used furniture : First, realize that you're going to have to treat your entire place,not just the furniture.To do that, I'd first spread boric acid powder throughout each room, with emphasis around the furniture and in the kitchen. (First thing most of them were likely to do was head for the food.)
used furniture : Then, open up everything you can, including pulling cushions off thecouch/chairs, propping up the mattress on the bed, open all closet and cabinet doors, open drawers, etc., and fog the place with goodquality roach foggers. You have to cover dishes (or re-wash everything)and can't have any food laying out when doing fogging, and also coveranything plastic with something--I had a calculator display getdiscolored once from foggers.
used furniture : After you get back (you'll need to be gone for about four hours orso while the foggers work), you can air out the place and close allthe stuff you opened, clean the countertops in the kitchen, and doany washing you need to. The foggers should have killed the majorityof the active roaches, and the boric acid powder should get the restas they move around. Placing a dozen or so roach baits around the placewouldn't hurt either.
used furniture : You may need to refog after a week or ten days if there was a particularlyhealthy crop hiding in the middle of the cushions, or just as a precaution.If you have a cat, do not use boric acid. It's toxic to cats.Just want to add to these good suggestions, to get them to eat the boricacid, you should mix it half and half with jelly. They go crazy over it.My dad is a certified pest control agent and that's what he told me to dowhen we had problems a few years ago. Put the mixture in jar caps andplace them around especially in the kitchen. It's slow acting, but verypotent.
